The slag valve copper electrode is used to facilitate slag exits from EAFs. Given its geometric shape, the slag is conveyed toward its ladle in the molten phase. Its upper layer is made of copper and cooled with water-cooled reciprocating routes. This part has been localized by PSS Engineering Co., and its water-cooling system has been optimized.

1. The water-cooling system is double-channel, improving the cooling of the part and minimizing the likelihood of water path blockage.
2. Unlike the previous designs, all the surface that has contact with the melt is of copper material, prolonging the part’s service life.
3. As per studies, the welding technology for bonding copper to steel for this part has been optimized.
4. The two tanks at both ends of the part have been eliminated in the new design, fixing the issues with damages to them and welding on the surface.
